What usually holds a robot RFQ is not “can you mill aluminum,” but whether datums repeat, whether Helicoil/inserts are specified, and whether anodize will coat mating threads. We DFM from the drawing: fit faces, dowels, bolt circles, and bearing bores first, then 3-axis vs 5-axis.
Typical CNC parts: EOAT / flange plates, joint or gearbox-interface housings, vision and force-sensor mounts, cable-chain brackets, jig and gauge plates, light structural frames, and docking / tool-change plates. These are machined metal structures — not a complete robot arm shipped as a product.
Process: most flanges and brackets are CNC milled; bores and shafts can add turning; compound angles or undercuts are reviewed for 5-axis to cut setups. Clear or black anodize is common; threads and mating faces are masked unless the drawing says coat-through. Helicoil / wire inserts are quoted as a feature.
Tolerances: fit faces often ±0.02–0.05 mm; named datums can go to ±0.002 mm. A 0.001 mm capability note still yields to the drawing and the inspection list. Dimensional reports, FAI, and CMM are optional quote ticks.
Export buyers use the same path: AI itemized reference → engineer confirmation when needed → PO and payment node → Dongguan, China production → courier / air / sea sketch. Duties and insurance follow the Incoterm. This page does not invent unit prices.
In DFM we ask three things: where the datums sit, which faces mate, and whether anodize may coat threads. Cobot joint housings are often a bearing bore + bolt circle + cable exit — one fewer setup usually holds coaxiality and flatness together. If Helicoil type is missing, the reference quote flags it for confirmation instead of assuming a brand.
Inspection: simple brackets can ship with a sampled dimensional report. Stacked flanges and gauge plates should put datums, dowels, and fit faces on an FAI or CMM list. We do not invent lab certificate numbers on this page — you tick a document, we ship against that list.

Lead time on the site is three tiers: Economy / Standard / Express. Standard is commonly ~10 days as a reference (production + air sketch, with the selected finish); Express is often ~6 days when material and finish allow.
Anodize, passivation, powder, and outsourced heat-treat add days on the production clock — put them on the RFQ instead of a verbal “few days.”
The clock starts at the agreed payment node, not at the moment the AI preview appears. PO and drawing revision follow the confirmation.
Call out insert buy-out time on the RFQ — stock vs named brand is not the same lead. We do not bake an unconfirmed “in stock” into the calendar.
International legs stay courier / air / sea sketches. Duties typically extra unless DDP is agreed.

DFM: datums, inserts, anodize keep-outs
Automation jobs stall on stack-up, not on milling. Put the datum scheme, dowels, bolt circle, Helicoil spec, and anodize keep-outs on the PDF.
- Multi-part stacks: send an assembly datum or exploded view so each plate is not its own world.
- Keep bearing bores and bolt circles in one setup when possible; otherwise call out GD&T.
- Helicoil / wire insert: type, depth, through or blind.
- Anodize: mask mating threads, dowels, and grounding faces by default.
- After pocketing, walls ≥1.2 mm unless DFM approves thinner.
- Send STEP + PDF together — PDF for tol/finish, STEP for geometry.
Inspection and documents (as ticked)
Default is in-house check of drawing-critical dims. Dimensional reports, FAI, and CMM are quote ticks — we do not verbally promise certificates that are not on the list.
