What happens when the drawing has no tolerance?

Dimensions that are not called out individually follow that drawing’s own general tolerance note. A smaller grade number is tighter. Ordinary milling and turning follow the untoleranced note on the drawing. Precision holes, mating faces, and requirements within 0.01 mm must be called out on the drawing, and an engineer confirms whether they can be met. The quote page says critical tolerances follow the drawing.

0.001 mm and ±0.002 mm are not the default tolerance for the whole part. The capability table says precision to 0.001 mm, and fine features are commonly ±0.002 mm. Those belong to five-axis or finish-machining capability. The drawing still governs. Both levels must be named, confirmed in DFM, and usually take extra time. FAI or CMM can be selected. They are not a plant-wide guarantee.

Mating faces are commonly ±0.02–0.05 mm. A datum named on the drawing can reach ±0.002 mm. When the capability statement reaches 0.001 mm, the drawing and the inspection list still govern. When the whole drawing is ±0.1 mm but the mating face that actually locates needs ±0.02–0.05 mm, tighten only the assembly faces and leave the rest at the drawing’s general tolerance.

An STL with no units and no tolerances is not treated as a fine acceptance. The PDF carries tolerances. STEP carries the shape. If the two disagree, align them before the price is locked.

Call out critical holes, mating faces, and sizes tighter than 0.01 mm on the PDF, upload the STEP, and see the itemized reference price. A reference price is not a contract. Tight features need an engineer to confirm.
