The weldment print has a profile tolerance of 0.01 on pads that are 400 mm apart. The buyer wants a machining price similar to a bracket. The welds are not stress-relieved.

Price the metrology and the risk, or no-quote the 0.01 until they relieve and allow a skim. A 0.01 profile across a raw weldment is a grind and a straightening job, not a face mill pass.

Offer a tolerance you can hold on that weldment, with a number, and let them choose. A silent 'we will try' becomes your scrap.

If you take it, the quote needs a straightening and re-machine allowance. One setup will not land 0.01 on hot welds.
