Pure copper lugs. The drill grabs, the hole is rough, and the part spins in the fixture if the clamp is light. We are using the stainless drill parameters because copper is 'soft.'

Soft is not free-cutting. Copper wants a sharp drill, a positive rake, a moderate speed, and a feed that cuts a chip instead of rubbing a paste. Stainless parameters work-harden copper into a grab.

Clamp for the grab. A light clamp plus a dull drill is how the part leaves the fixture.

A bit of cutting fluid that is actually on the lips matters more than flood that never enters the hole. Peck and clear the paste.
