The print says aluminum, 7075 preferred, 6061 acceptable. The part is a thin bracket with several M4 threads. We have 6061 on the shelf and 7075 on a week lead. The buyer said either is fine if it holds.

7075 machines cleanly and is stronger, and it is also more notch-sensitive in a thin section and less forgiving if you over-tap a short M4. 6061 is the right shelf material if the print allows it and the threads are short and the load is light.

Do not promise 7075 strength on a 6061 part. 'Either is fine' needs to be written on the PO as the alloy you actually cut. Preferred is not a surprise substitution after anodize, because they anodize differently.

If the bracket is a structural clip, wait for 7075 or get the buyer to accept 6061 in writing. Shelf convenience is not a design review.
