C360 is what we ordered. The chip is long and the finish tears on a form tool. Leaded brass usually breaks chips for us. The cert has not arrived. The bar is marked only with a heat number.

Do not guess the alloy from the chip if the cert is missing, but a long tearing chip is a reason to hold the lot. C360 should break. You may have a low-lead or a different brass. Machine one sample, record the chip, and wait for the paper before you run the order.

A form tool that is rubbed dull will tear even C360. Look at the edge under a glass before you reject the bar. A fresh edge and a still-long chip points at the metal.

If the cert shows a different alloy, the quote and the feeds change. Do not 'make it work' on a medical or a drinking-water part where lead content matters.
