The tank has a magnet rake for cast iron. After two days the pump cavitates. The rake is a solid brick of fines. The filter bag looks clean because the fines never get there.

Clean the magnet on a timer shorter than two days for this job, or the brick becomes the filter and the pump sucks air around it. A clean bag does not mean a clean pickup.

Cast iron fines settle in the corners the rake misses. Shovel those when you pull the brick, or the next hour rebuilds it.

If this job is weeks long, add a second magnet or a conveyor drum. Heroic cleaning every crisis is not a process.
