A two-pallet horizontal repeats on pallet A and varies by 0.03 mm on pallet B in the morning. Both pallets were ground. The machine faces a door that stays open for chip bins.

Measure the pallet cone and the receiver for chips before you blame the casting of the pallet. A pallet near the open door also runs colder. Indicate a gauge block on both pallets at the start of the shift and write the difference down for a week. You want to know if it is dirt or temperature.

If B is always the cold one, warm it or close the door. If B is random, it is the clamp face. Random does not get a permanent offset.

Do not average the two pallets into one work offset. They are two setups.
