The conveyor runs all week on aluminum and stalls within an hour on 4140 chips. The motor hums. The chute is clear at the top. There is a packed mass under the belt at the bottom bend.

Steel chips nest and lock a belt that aluminum fines slide through. Clear the lower bend, and do not start the motor again until that mass is out. A humming motor is already at stall.

A magnet or a different belt pitch belongs on a machine that flips between fine aluminum and long steel. Pretending one conveyor setting covers both is why it stalls on the first steel hour.

If this machine is mostly steel, raise the service on that bend to every steel setup, not every month.
