Two vises, one program, work offsets set last night. In the morning the left vise cuts a boss 0.04 mm big. By lunch it matches the right. Nobody edited offsets. The shop is cold overnight and the left door is near the dock.

A cold machine and a cold vise grow as they run. The left side near the dock is the cold one. Warm the spindle and run a scrap cycle, or probe the jaw at the start of the shift, before you chase wear that will be wrong at lunch.

If you set offsets at the end of a hot day, the morning part will be big or small depending on what grew. Set them in the condition you cut, or probe every shift.

0.04 mm that heals by lunch is temperature. A wear offset 'to fix the morning' will scrap the afternoon.
