Any time someone hits feed hold during a finish turn, the diameter has a groove. The operator is holding because a chip is wrapping. The size is otherwise good.

A feed hold on a finish cut is a dwell, and a dwell with the insert in the cut is a groove. Stop the wrap with a chip breaker, a peck, or air, not with feed hold on the finish pass.

If you must stop, rapid off or cancel the cycle where the program already leaves the cut, then come back on a fresh finish pass. You will not blend a groove by restarting in the middle.

Chip wrap on a finish is a process problem. The groove is the cost of treating it like an emergency every part.
