How do you restart a long 3D finish without a witness line?

A surface finish on a mold core takes forty minutes. A holder pulled out at minute twenty. Restarting at the nearest line leaves a line you can see in the polished face. The control will restart at a block number.

Restart before the tool is on the surface, on a block where the tool is in the air on the approach, and let it re-enter along the path. A restart on a cutting block writes a dwell mark.

If the control can retrace, use it. If it cannot, post a restart file from the CAM at the last air move, with the wear left exactly where it was. Changing wear on the restart is how the rest of the surface steps.

A witness you can already see will not blend by running the same path again at the same stock. It needs a light spring or a polish plan you meant to do, not a hope.
