A face mill leaves a cloudy face on 6061 when the finish stock is 0.05 mm. The same tool with 0.3 mm stock looks bright. Feeds and speeds are the ones from the tool card.

0.05 mm on a face mill in aluminum is often below the edge hone, so the tool rubs and smears. Leave enough finish stock that the insert actually cuts, commonly a few tenths, not a whisper.

A cloudy face with a small stock is also a classic sign of a wiper insert running with too little stock to engage the wiper. Give it the stock the insert was designed to wipe.

Do not fix rub by slowing the feed. Slower feed on a rubbing edge makes more heat, not a brighter face.
