A Mazatrol thread on 304 takes a heavy first pass and the insert chips. Later passes are fine. The thread data is a standard metric the control suggested. The material field was left as the default steel.

Tell the process the material is stainless so the first pass depth is not a carbon-steel suggestion. A chipped first pass in 304 is the classic result of a default material and a full opening cut.

You can also split the first pass in the thread data. Do one test thread and look at the edge before you run the batch.

Default steel in the material field is a lie you typed by leaving it blank. Fill it in.
