A morning check zeroed a micrometer and a chip was on the anvil. An hour of parts were accepted. The chip was found at break. The parts are in a tray mixed with yesterday's.

Isolate the tray from the hour in question. Rezero on a clean standard and remeasure a sample from that hour, not the whole week's output, unless the sample is bad.

If the sample moved by the chip, measure the hour. If it did not, you learned the zero was lucky. Either way the anvil gets wiped before a zero, every time, because this is how a day of parts becomes a guess.

Yesterday's parts stay accepted unless they were in the same unchecked pile. Do not expand a one-hour problem into a plant shutdown without a sample.
