An aluminum rail measures 0.15 mm long in the afternoon and almost nominal in the morning. The tolerance is ±0.1 on length. The shop is not air-conditioned. The standard we use lives in a drawer.

Aluminum grows roughly two hundredths per meter per degree. A 400 mm rail and a warm afternoon can eat a ±0.1 budget. Measure at a stated temperature, or compare to a standard that has been sitting next to the part, not in a cold drawer.

Do not trim the afternoon parts to a cold standard. You will be short in the morning.

If the buyer's incoming room is cold, agree the temperature. Otherwise you and they will pass and fail the same rail on different days.
