The ways look wet every Monday even though Friday's shutdown checklist says the oil was wiped. Chips are cleared. I do not want a slip, and I do not want to ignore a way leak.

Find whether it is way oil, hydraulic oil, or coolant before anyone adds a mat and calls it done. Color and smell are enough to separate them. A way-lube metering valve stuck open will empty a tank over a weekend.

Check the sight and the tank level Friday and Monday. If the level dropped and the ways are flooded, the lube unit ran with the machine off or a line is cracked.

Wipe is not the repair. The repair is the valve, the line, or the timer. The wipe is so nobody falls while that is open.
