The bore gauge repeats within 0.002 mm and reads 0.015 small against the ring we trust. The operator has been offsetting to the bore gauge all week. Rings were set Monday.

Repeating is not accurate. Set the bore gauge on the ring at the size you are cutting, in the same temperature, and look at the Monday set. A gauge that repeats 0.015 off the ring is a wrong zero, a worn contact, or a ring that is not the size you think.

Stop offsetting the machine to a gauge that fails its master. You have been machining a 0.015 error into the week.

Send the ring and the gauge to whoever calibrates them before the next lot. Do not average the ring and the gauge into a compromise number.
