A 3D finish was recut with a looser toolpath tolerance to shorten the program. The machine runs smoother and the surface is faceted. The scallop setting was not changed. The buyer notices the flats.

Toolpath tolerance is the chord you allow the CAM to cut. Loosen it and you get facets even when the scallop number looks fine. Put the tolerance back on a shown surface. Save time on the roughing, not on the face the buyer sees.

If the control is choking on a dense program, smoothing in the control or a better post is the fix. A faceted post is not a fix.

Compare a small patch at both tolerances on a scrap before you recut the whole core.
