Do CNC threads need a wire thread insert?

If you want one, write it clearly: part number, depth, through or blind, and which face it sits on. If it is not written, the reference price is marked to be confirmed. We do not install one default insert. The quote is by feature.

If you want one, write it clearly: part number, depth, through or blind, and which face it sits on. If it is not written, the reference price is marked to be confirmed. We do not install one default insert. The quote is by feature.

The quote page splits threads into: no threads, a few threads (≤8), many threads, thread inserts (Helicoil and similar), and countersink or counterbore. Inserts are their own tier.

Titanium, thick hard anodize, inserts, and complex gauges are scheduled again. Off-the-shelf and specified brands arrive on different dates. Do not write “in stock” into a lead time that is not confirmed yet. If the insert still needs anodize, mating threads are masked by default, unless the drawing says to coat the threads.

On the drawing, write the thread spec, the tap drill, and the effective depth together. Leave at least 1.5× pitch of relief at the bottom of a blind hole.

Upload a STEP, select “thread inserts” in the quote, write the part number and depth in the notes, and see the itemized reference price. If the spec is incomplete, the reference price is marked to be confirmed. A reference price is not a contract.
